GOVERNOR APPOINTS MICHAEL MORGAN DOA SECRETARY
Governor Jim Doyle appointed Michael Morgan as Secretary of Administration effective January 1, 2007. Morgan, who currently serves as Secretary of Revenue, replaces Steve Bablitch, who was appointed in September 2005. Secretary Morgan’s appointment requires State Senate approval which is expected when the Legislature reconvenes in January 2007.

Prior to his appointment by the Governor, Secretary Morgan served the City of Milwaukee as the Executive Director of the Fire and Police Commission and as the Commissioner of the Department of City Development. He also held the position of Program Related Investment Officer for the Helen Bader Foundation. Secretary Morgan received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a running back for the Wisconsin Badgers from 1974 to 1977.

ASSEMBLY RECOUNTS COMPLETE, NO CHANGE TO ELECTION RESULTS
Four Assembly races following the November 7th election were subject to a recount. Those recounts are complete and confirm the original results of the election. They are as follows:

88th Assembly District
Rep. Judy Krawczyk (R-Green Bay) lost to Democrat James Soletski

96th Assembly District
Rep. Lee Nerison (R-Westby) beat Democrat Gail Frie

47th Assembly District
Rep. Gene Hahn (R- Cambria) beat Democrat Meagan Yost

43rd Assembly District
Rep.Debi Towns (R-Janesville) lost to Democrat Kim Hixon

The Republicans hold a 52-47 majority in the Assembly.

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY FILL OUT JOINT COMMITTEE ON FINANCE SELECTIONS
Senate majority Leader Judy Robson (D-Beloit) and Assembly Speaker Mike Huebsch (R-West Salem) finished their appointments to the budget writing Joint Finance Committee. The appointments are as follows:

Democrats (8): Sen. Dave Hansen (D-Green Bay), Sen. Bob Jauch (D-Superior), Sen. Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee), Sen. Mark Miller (D-Monona), Sen. John Lehman (D-Racine)
Republicans (2): Sen. Alberta Darling (R-River Hills), Sen. Luther Olsen (R-Ripon)

Assembly
Co-Chair: Rep. Kitty Rhoades (R-Hudson)
Republicans (8): Rep. Dan Meyer (R-Eagle River), Rep. Jeff Stone (R-Franklin), Rep. Steve Kestell (R-Elkhart Lake), Rep. Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford), Rep. Robin Vos (R-Racine)
