UW SYSTEM NAMES EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS AND EXTERNAL RELATIONS
Completing a search that began in August, UW System President Kevin Reilly named David F. Giroux as the executive director for communications and external relations. Giroux is currently the director of public information for the University of Wisconsin-Extension and will begin his new post December 1.

STATEWIDE ELECTIONS SET FOR TUESDAY
Voters across the state will go to the polls this Tuesday to select congressional, statewide, Assembly and Senate candidates in the general election ballot. The statewide positions include races for Governor/Lt. Governor, Attorney General, State Treasurer and Secretary of State. Also, two statewide voter initiatives, one advisory referendum on instituting the death penalty and one constitutional amendment on a gay marriage ban, are also on the backside of the ballot.

For Governor, James Doyle (D) will face Congressman Mark Green (R) and Nelson Eisman (Green Party). For Lt. Governor, State Representative Jean Hundertmark (R-Clintonville) will face current Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton (D) and Leon Todd (Green Party). Governor and Lt. Governor are elected as a pair.

For Attorney General former Western Wisconsin District U.S. Attorney J.B. Van Hollen (R) will face current Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk (D).

Current State Treasurer Jack Voight (R) will face Dawn Marie Sass (D), Tim Peterson (Libertarian) and Winston Sephus, Jr. (Green Party).

For Secretary of State, incumbent Doug La Follette (D) will face Sandy Sullivan (R) and Michael LaForest (Green Party).

In Dane County, Senator Jon Erpenbach and Representatives Gary Hebl, Terese Berceau, Spencer Black, Mark Pocan, David Travis and Sondy-Pope Roberts are unopposed in Tuesday’s election. (Senators Fred Risser and Mark Miller are not up for re-election this year.)

Other Dane County State Assembly races include Representative Eugene Hahn (R-Cambria) facing Meagan Yost (D); Representative Joe Parisi (D-Madison) against Dan Long (R); and Representative Brett Davis (R-Oregon) against Janis Ringhand (D). Former Representative David Ward’s seat (Assembly District 37) will feature former legislative staffer Greg Gasper (R) against Andy Jorgensen (D).
