NEW SESSION BRINGS NEW LEGISLATION
Even though the state budget will be front and center for the Legislature until at least June, legislators have begun proposing legislation to be taken up in the 05-06 session. Of interest to the university, bill ideas currently circulating include:

Senator Bob Jauch (D, Poplar) is proposing legislation to allow UW security officers the ability to carry electronic weapons known as Tasers.

Rep. Mark Gottlieb (R, Sheboygan) is proposing legislation to create a tuition gift certificate program for the University of Wisconsin System.
